ACIPCO International Pipe Linings
Pipe and fittings lined with the following types of coatings are available from ACIPCO on a special order basis. For more detailed information regarding lining selection, application parameters, and typical field topcoats, please contact ACIPCO.
COAL TAR EPOXY
Coal tar epoxy lining is a catalyzed, two-component lining that combines the corrosion-resistant characteristics of coal tar pitch with those of epoxy resin.
Coal tar epoxy has excellent resistance to numerous chemicals — such as those in pickling brine, alkali wastes, and certain weak acids — but each specific service condition should be evaluated before a determination is made regarding the suitability of this type lining. Coal Tar Epoxy should not be used for potable water service.
The cured lining will tolerate reasonable impact, abrasion, and flexing. The lining will not sag or flow at dry heat temperature up to 120º Celsius; maximum wet temperature is 40º Celsius. These temperature maximums may vary, depending on the epoxy manufacturer.
Pipe with coal tar epoxy lining is furnished on special order.
OTHER SPECIAL LININGS
Customers can request pipe and fittings with special linings other than that listed above. Because of the variables and complexities involved in the selection of a proper lining for a given service, ACIPCO invites inquiries for technical assistance, availability, and cost.
UNLINED
Because some service applications may require unlined pipe and fittings, ACIPCO furnishes any of its products without lining when so specified at the time of purchase. If the intended use of unlined material, such as for acid or digester gas service, requires special air testing, that should also be specified at the time of purchase.
Special linings such as polyethylene and coal tar epoxy are often recommended for ductile iron pipe transporting industrial chemical wastes such as acids, alkali waste, and pickling brine, or in instances where hydrogen sulfides are a problem, such as septic sewers. Contact ACIPCO regarding the most suitable lining for these special services.
