Repair of External Coatings

Shipment, handling, and the rough installation of pipe may occasionally damage the factory-applied external coating. Slight damage does not require any repair. If large damage is experienced, it is recommended that the coating be repaired at site, as per the following instructions:

MATERIALS

• Paint brush or roller and cloth rag
  
• Asphalt paint approved for contact with potable water

PROCEDURE

• The surface should be cleaned of all damaged coating and dirt with the brush or rag.
  
• Dry the area to be coated.
  
• Apply the asphalt paint with a brush or roller to a mean thickness of 70 microns and no less than 50 microns.
