AMERICAN has made a number of changes to its product line since the last printing of the AMERICAN PIPE MANUAL in 1994. The most significant are shown below (page numbers in the 17th Edition of the AMERICAN PIPE MANUAL are included for ready reference).

Fast-Grip® Gaskets, 18"-24", are now available as a superior, field-adaptable method of restraining Fastite® ductile iron pipe and fittings for 250 psi working pressure.

AMERICAN Flex-Ring® Joint, 14"-36", has been redesigned as an easier and more fail-safe method of joint restraint.
The following items will no longer be furnished once present stock is depleted:
  • 3" pipe and fittings.
  • Flanged and MJ welded-on bosses. (Replaced by welded-on outlets. See pages 7-19 through 7-22 in the AMERICAN Ductile Iron Pipe manual.)
  • Field-Adaptable Spigot Rings for 4" - 12" Flex-Ring® Joints. (Replaced by Fast-Grip® gaskets. See pages 9-13, 14 in the AMERICAN Ductile Iron Pipe manual.)
  • Pipe and fittings ANSI B16.1 Class 250 flanges (except fabricated connections to equipment with those flanges) are no longer marketed by AMERICAN. See Ben Helton's "Technical Q&A" article in the Fall/Winter issue of PIPE PROGRESS for a discussion on that special flange. Contact us if you want a reprint of that article.

These and other changes will be reflected in future printings of the AMERICAN PIPE MANUAL and its sections. For the most up-to-date information on AMERICAN's products, check out our web site on the Internet at http://www.acipco.com or contact AMERICAN sales personnel.
